The Mysterious Nodoroc Site in Winder, Georgia. The geological origin of a mud volcano located in Winder, Georgia is a mystery waiting to be solved. As far as I know, geologists haven't ever studied this unexplained watery bog that last erupted circa It's probably similar to mud volcanoes found in Africa and southeast Asia.

Nodoroc: There is a “mud” volcano in Barrow County, GA about 12 miles southwest of the former “Creek” town of Thumagoa. Until a massive earthquake occurred in the New Madrid Fault in , Nodoroc belched black smoke. Its mud was so acidic that an animal that fell in the pit would be dissolved within a day. The book was edited and published by William Ellis White in I'm going to point out that some of the text of this book is offensive due to the time period in which it was written.

The Wog is a demon dog about the size of a small horse, with long black fur, and longer front legs than hind legs.

According to “The Early History of Jackson County Georgia,” by historian G.J.N. Wilson in“This gave him something of the appearance of a huge dog sitting on its tail.”.

Nodoroc: A legend of early America [Allen Underwood] on *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Creek Indians called this area Nodoroc, somewhat akin to hell. They considered the area to be a place of great evil.

In fact, it was said that living near the area was a monster called the WOG. I don't remember what book talks about the volcano, but it was a wonderful read, I will repost if you are interested.
